I know I said I’d be more consistent with posting but um…I’ve been busy suing people…and I bought a new sexy ass sofa set that smells like mold and makes me itch…and these mofos are taking their good ass time picking this shit up from the crib so looks like I’m going to be suing some more people…don’t they know TiffMoney is litigious!
Anywho! It’s Black History Month! Let’s toast to the trailblazers, the door openers, the kick ass and don’t give a damn-ers, the I’mma get this shit done-ers, the “yeah I’m black but fuck your racism”-ers, the try to steal my shit but you can’t do it better than me so I’mma keep doing me, the real McCoys ;-), the kings, the queens, the perserverant, the resilient, my beautiful black ancestors. Bask in their gottdamn reverence!
While watching a video post on Madame C. J. Walker, I read some of the comments. Lawd! I’m trying to figure out why SOME white folk feel the need to troll the shit out of black shit. Like literally, posts about black people, for black people, on pages created by black people FOR black people. Damn!! So the post was pretty much saying “Hey, Madame C. J. Walker was awesome, look at all this shit she was able to accomplish while being a single mother and black women. Cheers to her for overcoming adversity.” So of course, the trolls came out the word-work. One white chick comments, “ALL WOMEN MATTER. We’re all in the same boat. We’ve all had to struggle.” Bitch where!?!!! WHITE WOMEN benefit from affirmative action THE MOST. I’m not even going to get into that shit though, this isn’t what this post is about… I will say that one “woke”(yeah, some of them are waking up and seeing the bullshit too) white man got her ass all the way together and told her that celebrating black women and their accomplishments does not negate from other women and to get out of here with her ALL LIVES MATTER bullshit! Yes woke white man! Come through! LMFAO!
Then while reading more of the comments, I came across the name Annie Malone. Did you know that she mentored Madame C.J. Walker and that SHE was actually the first self-made female millionaire and NOT Madame C.J.Walker?! I took my black ass over to Wikipedia and read about Ms. Malone…hunny…talk about inspiring…she literally created the blue print for companies like AVON and Mary Kay..and she was a Leo so you know I was even more interested in her story!
Now this is somebody that was born in 1869! Slavery was abolished in 1865! What they don’t tell you is that that shit wasn’t instantaneous. Some folks didn’t even know they were free for a good ass minute, then there was all this other extra bullshit my people had to go through…we aren’t going to get into that either. Let’s stay focused on Annie. In addition to being born in 1869 (I still can’t get over this) she was orphaned at a young age! Fascinated with hair and hair dressing, she created hair products and sold them door to door, eventually owning a manufacturing plant that housed a beauty college. Her beauty college employed 2000 people and her franchises employed over 75,000 women in North America, South America, Africa and the Philippines. By the time of her death, there were 30 colleges (Poro College) worldwide. She revolutionized the hair care industry, hell, she damn near birthed it! She had 14 million in assets in freaking 1920! 1920! That would be the equivalent of $178,838,518.52 in 2017! In addition to being the boss of bosses, she dedicated her life and finances to uplifting the black community!
I’m sure you saw the link above but learn more about this phenomenal woman here and here. I wonder why we don’t hear more about her. Maybe because she was lowkey. Let the history books tell it, our contributions to America were limited to the stop light and peanut butter. I’m am absolutely loving the “information-sharing” generation that social media has ushered in.
Man! If you take the time to watch the video links I’ve shared, you’d understand why her story has tugged at my heart strings a little bit, especially after doing a quick bid in the black hair industry working for one of the largest manufactures, distributors of extensions and hair pieces. (Beauty Supply Store Hair) The company is Korean owned and I was one of the only black employees. Actually, I was the ONLY and first black employee to work on the business side of the company. As always, I’m an anomaly. Anyway, I always wanted to start my own shit but never got around to it. Don’t know if I’ll revisit that but I’m glad to see this new class of black beauty entrepreneurs throwing their hats in the ring and giving these “other” folk a run for their money! #FUBU lol
You know, I’ve been having a lot of chats with myself lately…There’s aspirational Tiffany and then there’s lazy ass Tiffany. Lazy ass Tiffany is keeping aspirational Tiffany from being ambitious and great. We all dream right? But ambition is the will to make those dreams tangible. These talks that I’ve had to have with one Tiffany to the other Tiffany have been mostly about figuring out why we can’t get our shit together and get our butts moving! I came to a realization the other day, that there is absolutely nothing holding me back! Like literally! No kids, no man, for the most part I have my health (I know diabetes is tryna creep up on my ass) a good job with a company that I can find employment within literally ever corner of the world should I decide to up and move, and a little discretionary income that I can buy few things with. I am literally standing in my own way! Argh!
One of my biggest problems is that I can do so much. I’m good at a lot of things and my ADHD won’t let me great!! Seeing all that Annie was able to accomplish given a mountain of obstacles along with the lack of technology that I have at my fingertips, has inspired me to get up off my ass! I need to do some shit worthy of a Wikipedia page!
I’m getting closer and closer to my greatness. I can feel it. 2017 is going to be my year!
Cheers to Annie!
Cheers to You!
Cheers to that Black Girl Magic!
