So Burger King has a Gay Pride Whopper…so can we get a Black History Month Whopper…and all this time I didn’t know I was eating a heterosexual Whopper. So now we’re giving sandwiches sexual preferences? Hmmm…I think I’ll stick with McDonald’s. I like their approach to Diversity Marketing better than grandstanding to sell collectible sandwich wrappers on Ebay.
So I guess my African American heterosexual business is no longer needed…now that I think about, I’ve never really seen Burger King make any minority inclusions in their marketing campaigns other than this… I really want to jump on the Pride bandwagon and empathize with the struggle, but my black homosexual AND heterosexual brothers and sisters still don’t enjoy an ounce of “privilege” that their counterparts do. You know, I’ve walked through Philly’s “Gayborhood” and have been called a NIGGER by gay white men. I’ll never forget the time I was walking down 13th and Sansom with my sister and niece, and these two white guys were behind me. One tries to get the attention of a black guy across the street. The black guy brushes him off. His WHITE friend says to him, standing about a foot from me and says, “that’s ok honey, you’ve done more for niggers than welfare…” WOW.
Gay is NOT the new Black…yeah, I’m not here for this Whopper.
I just don’t understand why they felt the need to make such a declaration. If anything, feature same sex couples somewhere in your ad campaign like the white folks tryna push the “interracial” couple agenda. But this was unnecessary. To me, it’s just a blatant F-U to other minority groups and heterosexuals. Not every hetero has a problem with same sex couples. I know I don’t. I believe who you choose to love over the age of 18 is your own damn business and not mine! But this shit, it’s like “pick a side” I don’t like where this shit is going…
